Establishing PSD Scotland
In January 2025, the First Minister outlined plans to renew Scotland’s health and social care services so people can live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives.
As part of the Service Renewal Framework, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) are coming together to form Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). The new organisation will improve service delivery across health, care and wider public services. It will support joined-up, prevention-focused care, faster innovation, and more efficient use of resources.
Key government plans and frameworks have shaped this work including:
- The Operational Improvement Plan (March 2025) - focuses on reducing long waits for planned care and improving access across the system.
- The Population Health Framework (June 2025) - prioritises prevention to support healthier communities.
- The Service Renewal Framework (June 2025) - sets a clear direction for improvement, innovation and cohesive delivery to transform services and support our health and social care workforce.
