Royal recognition for Professor David Felix
Congratulations to Professor David Felix, former Postgraduate Dental Dean and Director of Dentistry at NHS Education for Scotland, who has been awarded an OBE in the King's Birthday Honours for services to dental education and clinical training.
A graduate of the University of Glasgow in dentistry and the University of Edinburgh in medicine, Professor Felix was appointed Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Oral Medicine at Glasgow Dental Hospital and School in 1992.
In 1995 he took on the role of Postgraduate Tutor for the West of Scotland. He was appointed to the post of Associate Dean for Postgraduate Dental Education NHS Education for Scotland in 2002 and subsequently Postgraduate Dental Dean in 2011.
Professor Felix is widely recognised for his contributions to dental education, clinical practice and professional leadership, and holds honorary professorships at the University of Glasgow and Jordan University of Science and Technology. He is a Fellow in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. He was one of the first to be awarded Fellowship status in the Faculty of Dental Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
This OBE recognises Professor Felix's longstanding commitment to advancing dental education and training and his significant contribution to the development of the dental workforce in Scotland and across the UK. His leadership and dedication have had a lasting impact on generations of dental professionals and the patients they serve.
