A new national NHS Scotland Finance Academy launches today, supporting career progression for finance professionals across Scotland's health and care system.

The NHS Scotland Finance Academy - developed as a partnership between Public Services Delivery Scotland, the Scottish Government and Deloitte - will help finance professionals develop their careers with clear learning pathways, specialist development opportunities and access to a national finance community.

By strengthening career pathways and developing future leaders, the NHS Scotland Finance Academy will help build the capability needed to support the long-term sustainability of NHS Scotland.

The launch of the NHS Scotland Finance Academy marks an important step forward in developing the finance workforce our health service needs for the future.

Finance professionals play a critical role in supporting effective decision-making, stewarding public resources and enabling service transformation. Through the Finance Academy, we are creating opportunities for colleagues at every stage of their career to develop their skills, confidence and leadership capability.

By investing in today's professionals and tomorrow's leaders, we are helping build a resilient, future-ready finance workforce that will support better outcomes for the people of Scotland.

Professor Karen Reid, Chief Executive of Public Services Delivery Scotland

The NHS Scotland Finance Academy reflects our shared commitment to supporting a finance profession that is equipped to meet the changing needs of Scotland’s health and care system.

From a Scottish Government perspective, this is about creating the conditions for consistent, national development across NHS Scotland, enabling finance colleagues to build the capability, confidence and shared understanding needed to support strategic decision-making across the system.

By working in partnership with Public Services Delivery Scotland and Deloitte, we can strengthen the pipeline of finance talent and support a more connected, resilient and sustainable finance community for the future.
