New animations for a safer workplace

Animated image of hospital and healthcare water systems

A new suite of five learning animations is now available - to support safer design, construction and management of water and drainage systems across the healthcare built environment.

Developed in partnership with ARHAI Scotland, NHS Assure and the Healthcare Built Environment team, the animations highlight key Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) considerations, particularly on water and drainage systems in the healthcare-built environment.

The resource has been produced to help those involved in healthcare construction and infrastructure identify and reduce infection risks associated with water systems, supporting safer care for patients.

The videos introduce core concepts in a clear, accessible way, covering how water systems function, where risks can arise, and practical steps to manage them effectively.

They are open to anyone with an interest in healthcare water systems, and are particularly relevant for:

  • healthcare water system designers
  • construction teams
  • water engineers
  • plumbers and installers
  • board estates teams
  • board construction project teams
  • IPC teams (ICN/ICM/ICD)

The full animation suite is live on Turas. Essential infection prevention insights, delivered in minutes through high-impact visuals.
