Infant vaccine scheduling update - September 2026
In August 2026, we identified an issue affecting the scheduling of some routine infant vaccination appointments in Scotland. As a result, some infants did not receive an appointment when expected.
Those infants have now all been identified, and a digital fix has been applied to rectify the scheduling problem. Most of those affected have already been contacted and scheduled for vaccination. Work is continuing to ensure any remaining appointments are scheduled as quickly as possible and to assess the full impact of the issue.
Parents and carers do not need to take any action. If follow-up is required, families will be contacted directly by their local immunisation team.
We are sorry for the disruption and any concern this information may cause. We want to reassure families that every effort is being made to minimise any impact and maintain the safe, effective and timely delivery of Scotland’s childhood immunisation programme.
The issue has been managed through established incident management arrangements involving Public Health Scotland, the Scottish Government and NHS Boards.
