British Psychological Society honours PSD Scotland Psychology Directorate
Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland) are celebrating the achievement of our Psychology Directorate, who received two accolades in the British Psychological Society awards for their outstanding work through the National Trauma Transformation Programme (NTTP).
Lifetime achievement award
Dr Sandra Ferguson, Associate Director of Psychology and Lead for the National Trauma Transformation Programme (NTTP) (pictured, right), was honoured with the Bill Yule Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the field of Crisis, Disaster and Trauma (CDT) Psychology.
Innovation in Practice Award
PSD Scotland’s Trauma and Justice team received the Innovation in Practice Award. Dr Caroline Bruce (pictured, centre), Dr Sonia Petersen (pictured, left) and Dr Sandra Ferguson were recognised for their work in supporting evidence based, trauma informed approaches across justice settings for victims and witnesses.

On behalf of the PSD Scotland Psychology Directorate, I am enormously proud of the work that has been delivered by the National Trauma Transformation Programme (NTTP) and recognised by these recent awards from the British Psychological Society.
This Once for Scotland approach for public services in Scotland has, using evidence based psychological science, supported by an implementation science approach from the outset, an impressive reach and increasing evidence of impact across health, justice, and education.
The NTTP has focused on ensuring that those impacted by trauma, who often have the greatest disadvantages, can access services across sectors with fewer barriers, reducing inequality and supporting earlier and upstream approaches to meeting needs and minimising risk of future harm.
